Russell Young, an American-British Pop artist, is renowned for creating large-scale silkscreen paintings that depict cultural icons. After moving to London to work as a photographer’s assistant, he discovered opportunities in the world of commercial photography. In the 1990s, Young’s artistic interests shifted from photography to painting. It was in 2003 that Young gained significant attention from the art world with his series titled “Pig Portraits.” These silk screens featured celebrity mugshots and provided a commentary on the darker aspects of fame. Currently, Young divides his time between Los Angeles and New York, where he continues to live and work.
